Non-resident Enrollment

Thank you for your interest in Vashon Island Schools! We greatly value the contributions to our student community and learning environment that students from off island bring with them while commuting to our schools. Families seeking an engaging school setting, diverse extracurricular activities, and passionate teachers find them on Vashon. Our students are curious, authentic, and persistent in their learning and can often be found pursuing their interests outside of school. We are glad you are interested in contributing and participating in our learning community.

Admission Process

Step 1: Apply for admission using our Nonresident Student Application

Applications will be accepted beginning November 16, 2026. Applications received by January 15, 2027 will receive first consideration for space available. Families will be notified beginning February 2027 whether their application was accepted, wait-listed (accepted pending space), or denied. The notification process may take several weeks. Notification emails will come from noreply@jotform.com or noreply@formresponse.com. All applications are considered equally for admission based on:

• Academic/attendance/discipline records
• Program space availability

Current non-resident students must reapply each year and are given first priority for continuing enrollment as long as they are in good standing with regard to academics, attendance*, and behavior. Current students must reapply by February 1, 2027 in order to receive first consideration for continued enrollment. Families will be notified beginning in February 2027 whether their application was accepted, wait-listed (accepted pending space), or denied.

*Regular attendance, as defined by OSPI, is missing less than two days a month or 10 days per year, excused or unexcused.

Step 2: Upon acceptance, finish enrollment into our student system.

Required documents including immunization forms and a birth certificate. Your student’s enrollment will not be finalized until all of these documents have been received by the school’s front office.

Step 3: Complete a Choice Transfer Request

If you are accepted for non-resident enrollment but are opting to decline, we ask that you please notify the prospective school’s registrar as soon as able so that enrollment offers can be made to wait-listed applicants.
