Placing students into their next year classes begins in the Spring.  This is one of the most thoughtful and significant tasks we undertake.

Our goal is to create balanced classrooms where all students can thrive. Before forming class lists, we must first determine the number of class sections and whether multi-age or blended classes will best meet our enrollment needs. Once these decisions are made, we will thoughtfully consider a variety of factors to ensure all students are placed in a supportive and effective learning environment, including:

• A balance of gender identities, academic strengths, and behavioral needs

• Social-emotional development and peer relationships that support learning

• Students receiving support through Multilingual (ML) services, 504 plans, and IEPs

• The level of structure and support that best meets each child’s needs

Our current teachers know your child as a learner, their strengths and areas for growth, and we rely heavily on their insight to make thoughtful placement decisions. While we do not take specific teacher requests, we are committed to ensuring that every child is placed in a learning environment where they feel supported and successful.

We are no longer using a parent input form for class placement for currently enrolled students. Instead, we encourage all families to participate in March teacher conferences and ongoing conversations with teachers. This approach ensures a more equitable process, providing all families with the opportunity to share valuable input about their child’s learning needs. 

Once logged in to Skyward Family Access and on your selected student, you can find the teacher information under the Schedule tab located on the left sidebar. If you see that the “schedule” is blank, your child has not yet been placed and we are working on that and will get you teacher information by mid-August.
