CES Safe Arrival Procedures

The goal of Chautauqua’s Safe Arrival Program is to account for the whereabouts of each student not in attendance on any individual day. Parents and guardians are asked to call the Safe Arrival Line, 463-2882, ext 2, to report a student’s absence.  You can call any time and leave a message with the student’s full name, the date(s) of the absence and the reason.  It is helpful to let the student’s teacher know about absences as well, but the office must be informed in order to excuse the student’s absence.

If the school does not receive a phone call by 9:30am regarding the absence, we will try to contact the home.  The absence will remain unexcused until we receive communication back from the parent or guardian.

H1N1 Flu Information

With flu season just around the corner, VISD is preparing for the possiblity of H1N1 virus in our schools. As advised by the Washington State Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI), we are following King County Public Health and Center for Disease Control guidelines. The CDC recommends getting vaccinated for both seasonal and H1N1 flus. Click here for information about the vaccine.

To prevent the spread of swine flu, it’s very important to:

* Sneeze or cough into a tissue, elbow or sleeve. Throw the tissue away.
* Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze.
* Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth.
* If you are sick, stay home for 24 hours after a fever has passed without the use of fever-reducing medications.
